This article analyses El sillón K (2025) by Paula Paz, a contemporary Spanish play inspired by Carmen Conde’s epistolary dialogue with Katherine Mansfield. Addressed to Mansfield after the writer’s death, Conde’s letters constitute a one-sided correspondence that stages a literary dialogue across absence and time. Drawing on a collage of sources, languages and media, the play reconfigures this epistolary material into a multilingual theatrical space. The study investigates how the staging reactivates Conde’s modernist poetics and her reflections on immortality, absence and dialogue with the dead, transforming the epistolary exchange into a polyphonic dramaturgy that transcends linguistic and temporal boundaries.

Abstract
This article analyses El sillón K (2025) by Paula Paz, a contemporary Spanish play inspired by Carmen Conde’s epistolary dialogue with Katherine Mansfield. Addressed to Mansfield after the writer’s death, Conde’s letters constitute a one-sided correspondence that stages a literary dialogue across absence and time. Drawing on a collage of sources, languages and media, the play reconfigures this epistolary material into a multilingual theatrical space. The study investigates how the staging reactivates Conde’s modernist poetics and her reflections on immortality, absence and dialogue with the dead, transforming the epistolary exchange into a polyphonic dramaturgy that transcends linguistic and temporal boundaries.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
