An important challenge for agricultural sector is a widespread use of biogas also creating synergies with other industrial sectors. Biogas production may be one of the best contributors to shaping the bio-economy: using the metaphor of applying natural systems to the production of goods and services, the transition towards a bio-based economy requires that ecosystems become the reference of all bio-based and non-bio-based production systems. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the contribution of the Italian biogas sector to the affirmation of emerging production paradigms designed to promote a “closed loop” economy based on a greater appreciation for energy and natural resources, and the minimisation of waste production.

Abstract
An important challenge for agricultural sector is a widespread use of biogas also creating synergies with other industrial sectors. Biogas production may be one of the best contributors to shaping the bio-economy: using the metaphor of applying natural systems to the production of goods and services, the transition towards a bio-based economy requires that ecosystems become the reference of all bio-based and non-bio-based production systems. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the contribution of the Italian biogas sector to the affirmation of emerging production paradigms designed to promote a “closed loop” economy based on a greater appreciation for energy and natural resources, and the minimisation of waste production.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
