The essay explores the link between ethics, aesthetics and utopia, presenting some brief notes on the visionary projects for a visual language proposed by two great personalities of the twentieth century: Lazar Markovic Lissitzkij and Otto Neurath. From Lissitzkij’s ‘new book’ to Neurath’s ISOTYPE, what informs and unites the two projects is the aspiration to a universal and ‘a-national’ language capable of fostering knowledge, emancipation, social cohesion, and on which to build a new and different future.
Il saggio esplora il legame tra etica, estetica ed utopia presentando alcune brevi note sui progetti visionari per una lingua visuale proposti da due grandi personalità del Novecento: Lazar Markovic Lissitzkij e Otto Neurath. Dal ‘libro nuovo’ di Lissitzkij a ISOTYPE di Neurath, ciò che informa e accomuna i due progetti è l’aspirazione ad una lingua universale e a-nazionale capace di favorire conoscenza, emancipazione, coesione sociale e su cui poter costruire un nuovo e diverso futuro .
