The policies for gender mainstreaming are one of the most relevant issues on the European social agenda. The promotion of equal opportunities is infact, a necessary and priority condition for achieving the European Union's objectives in terms of growth, employment and social management. The gender perspective becomes fundamental in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies, in order to consider the life needs of people - men and women - as well as the expectations they place in the action of the multiple actors of the social scene. In this context, the Gender Report (GR) is a very important reporting tool for the gender mainstreaming of an organization and is a means of affirming and communicating the culture of equality and equal opportunities. The need to draw up the GR derives from the requirement to be transparent with respect to the opportunities for study, research and work within university life in general, and in particular the University, when dealing with gender conditions. This must happen in the awareness that the disparities still exist but that much has been done to overcome them. Therefore, this paper analyze the current situation of the University with regard to methods, indicators and strategies aimed at evaluating the choices and commitments made by the University in terms of gender equality, inclusiveness and equal opportunities. The report of the University of Salerno, is divided into two parts, and in addition to providing valuable information and carried on gender equality in the various structures and functions of the University, it highlights an intense journey, undertaken in recent years. From the establishment of the Equal Opportunity Committee to the appointment of the first Delegate, then to a system of relations, the many training courses, up to this report. The GR, moreover, aims to outline, in a gender perspective, the different composition of the groups and, in general, the human resources that operate within the University of Salerno (UniSa). The preparation of the GR entailed an intense activity of gathering and analyzing information and quantitative data. The GR of the University of Salerno represents a real act of responsibility towards the various stakeholders who participate in the life of the University and that, therefore, have the right to see the results obtained in terms of gender equality highlighted through the exercise of government action. It is clear that an irreversible course has been taken as well as towards gender equality. The first edition of the GR is a starting point for the analysis of the current situation and in the coming years will be a tool for evaluating the choices and commitments to be made in the University in the context of gender equality.

Abstract
The first edition of the GR is a starting point for the analysis of the current situation and in the coming years will be a tool for evaluating the choices and commitments to be made in the University in the context of gender equality.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
